“You do whatever you can, but please save my brother’s life.” Tears rolled down from the eyes of little Jennifer when she uttered these words in front of the doctor. Her brother Augustine who met a major bike accident is now admitted in the ICCU of North City Hospital. When the doctor said that his chances are very few, what better words could have come out from her mouth?
Jennifer and her brother Augustine used to live in hilly areas of Pennsylvania after they lost their parents in a plane crash at a very early age. Augustine loved his sister very much. He used to prepare breakfast before his sister leave for school and then he used to go out in his bike to the IT company where he worked. Everything was going on smoothly in their life. That day also he came out from his home to go to his office after his sister left for school. Everything was same like other days but suddenly a truck came in and crushed his bike and he fell down on the street.
With the help of some local people he was admitted in the hospital. The doctors had almost given up as they could not find any way to save this boy. But as Jennifer continuously requested them with eyes full of tears, the doctors had compassion on that girl and trying their best to save her brother.
As her brother was battling between life and death and Jennifer was outside the room sitting and crying, she remembered the verse that she learned in her Sunday school.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
– Psalm 23:1-4
She started praying to Jesus for her brother with tears full eyes outside her brother’s room and the whole night she was there praying for her brother’s life.
Miracle took place that night as she called on the name of Jesus, the LORD touched her brother that night. The next morning, as she went to see her brother, Augustine opened his eyes and requested her for a glass of water. She was so happy to see her brother alive. She immediately gave him a glass of water and then she called the doctor. The doctor checked him and said “It’s amazing. It’s a miracle. Your brother is much better now and he will be completely healed within few days.”
After few days, the doctors released him from the hospital. Jennifer took him to the church and thanked Jesus for saving her brother’s life. She told her brother that it’s because of Jesus you are alive. She told him about the miracle that took place that night as she prayed to Jesus. It is He who saved him from death.
It is amazing how Jesus answered the little girl’s prayer. He answers our prayers if we trust Him and call on His name. No matter what situations we are going through, He is always there to help us and save us from every danger.
