“Let them sit alone in silence beneath the Lord’s demands. Let them lie face down in the dust, for there may be hope at last. Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them and accept the insults of their enemies. For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love.”
——Lamentations 3:28-32 (New Living Translation)
When we are wronged and people accuse us unfairly and try to judge us without knowing us enough, we tend to retaliate and get angry because turning the other cheek isn’t something we do well. In getting angry at others, we are unconsciously getting angry at God. Inwardly we argue with God why did He let it happen to us. If you are child of God, You are always in the presence of God – The King of Kings and the Lord of lords.
Imagine for a moment that you are with the president of America and somebody tries to insult you. Will you retaliate in front of the president? No, You won’t react because of your respect for the president. We are in the presence of one greater than the president of America. We can’t fight against all the unfairness and all the gossips heaped against us. We simply can’t do it.
The Holy bible asks us to be still and know that He is the Lord God. You must trust that God will battle on your behalf and that He will fight your case. He will make the circumstances evolve in such a way that people will realize you have been right. In the end God will make known to everyone of your innocence. When you let God handle the situations in your life, You turn the corner. You begin to live life with a sense of expectancy, knowing that God wants what’s best for you. You start seeing opportunities. You feel God’s strength and love taking hold of you. His unfathomable peace will fill your heart and surprisingly, you will find that you can afford a smile.
