THE CROSS LIVING ON THE CROSSWAY : Part 3a

The story of the cross makes nonsense to those who are on the way to ruin, but to us who are on the way to salvation it is the power of God.

First Corinthians 1 : 18 (William Barclay Translation)

What a marvelous truth it is, that the cross is the power of God!

Remember the story of ‘the cross in my pocket’ …

I carry a cross in my pocket a simple reminder to me,
Of the fact that I am a Christian No matter where I may be.

This little cross is not magic, nor is it a good luck charm,
it isn’t meant to protect me from every physical harm.

It’s not for identification for the entire world to see,
It’s simply an understanding between my Savior and me.

When I put my hand in my pocket to bring out a coin or a key,
the cross is there to remind me of the price He paid for me.

It reminds me, too, to be thankful for my blessings day by day
and to strive to serve Him better in all that I do and say.

It’s also a daily reminder of the peace and comfort I share
with all who know my Master and give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket reminding no one but me,
That Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life If only I’ll let Him be.

Oh’ what a beautiful story! Do we do the same thing? May be yes, may be not!

‘Any time we listen to a message from the Word of God, there are several points to consider:

First, we are responsible for every single Word of God as we hear it.

Second, if the Holy Spirit dose not sanctifies the Word we hear, we will only have an awareness of theological truth – mere knowledge without power. This results in having a from of godliness that denies the power of God ( 2 Timothy 3 : 5 ).

Third, Knowledge that is not experiential may be academically sound, but it does not produce a sound mind. It is simply gnosis (an awareness in terms of general knowledge) and not epignosis (the precise application and understanding of truth).
